Why Lakeshore?
The vision for Lakeshore
Robbie is the owner of Lakeshore and he is also a Counsellor. Robbie started Lakeshore with two goals in mind: to provide the best experience for clients and the best experience for the counsellors that work here. To do this, he focused on creating a therapeutic space, curating the client experience, and getting his favourite counsellors in Kelowna to join the team. Robbie believes that counsellors are at their best when they love the space they are in, when they are supported by other counsellors, and when they are free to practice in their own way. When counsellors are at their best, they provide the best experience and the best outcomes for their clients. Robbie’s mission is for every person that walks through the door at Lakeshore to experience an improvement in the quality of their life.
Intentional
Our space is designed to be cozy and calm. We want you to feel comfortable and we don’t want you to need to do anything other than get ready for your session when you arrive. That is why we do not have a reception desk, no awkward small talk or questions to answer. We have coffee, tea, and water available for you prior to your session. You might even have time to eat a tasty Hi-chew before you get started - if you don’t have time, you can grab one on your way out! We always have good music, selected by our counsellors.
Therapy Rooms
We are located on a corner unit which was one of the main reasons we picked this location - every therapy room has large windows. There is a balance of beautiful natural light and mountain views with privacy film covering the bottom half of the window to ensure privacy. The couches are comfy and we’ve hand picked the decor. The spaces are tidy and designed for therapy.
Excellent Counsellors
Robbie knows that counsellors are at their best when they feel supported. In addition to that, Robbie believes counsellors can learn so much from each other. When a counsellor joins Lakeshore, it is because they have something special to offer to their clients and to contribute to the team. Robbie has confidence in the abilities of each counsellor and learns from them every chance he gets.
Group Supervision
Our counsellors support and learn from each other on a daily basis. Beyond that, we meet for group supervision to offer support, update each other on training, share what we’re learning, and provide meaningful insights and feedback to improve the quality of the work we do. The star of group supervision is the senior clinician and group supervisor, Chantelle Ludwig. Chantelle brings tranquility, wisdom, and years of experience to guide group supervision and inform the feedback she offers. All of the counsellors love having the opportunity to learn from Chantelle and to have her support.
The People that come to Lakeshore
We welcome any person, couple, or family that is seeking emotional and mental health therapy. People come to Lakeshore with all sorts of things to work on, challenges to overcome, insights to discover and explore, and healing to do. Some are trying to work on their relationship while others are focused on working on themselves, many are navigating difficult symptoms or situations. The concerns, challenges, and symptoms vary in degree and details. All are seeking help from another person and inviting them into their inner-world, which is an act of courage. Each bravely opens themselves up with hopes of healing, learning, understanding, and growing. It is an honour and a privilege for all of the Counsellors at Lakeshore to get to know each of our clients and to be a participant in their healing and self-betterment.
